This seems to be my week to discover previously-unheard Jim & Jesse songs – unheard by me, at any rate. This comes from the Old Dominion Masters box set, and it’s one of their most endearing performances, I think.

As always, Jesse’s cross-picking is masterful. On this track, the guitar break is cross-picked, too – and equally delicious. The instrumental breaks are the perfect complement to the luscious brother harmonies – some if the sweetest Jim and Jesse ever recorded. Apropos of nothing whatsoever, this track puts me in mind of summer. Sunny and sweet – maybe that’s why.

This is “Then I’ll Stop Going For You”.
