Jimmy C. Newman died just a couple of years ago. You may not know his name, but if you’re a student of bluegrass history, you almost certainly know his work.

Some of his most passionate songs made it into the bluegrass repertoire, including this one, made famous by Bill Monroe.

Here’s the father of bluegrass himself, giving everything he’s got to “Cry, Cry Darlin’”.
