Ronnie Spector brought me to this clip, with her gut-churning memories of the late Frankie Lymon, who died of a heroin overdose the the age of 25.

What musicianship, what showmanship this is. Can it be that, once upon a time, everyone acted like professionals? Host, Frankie Laine, is such a good sport here. This clip was filmed in 1956, and Laine must have known his era was past. Steve Allen could have taken lessons.

Anyway, Frankie Lymon and the (integrated) Teenagers with the ecstatic "Why Do Fools Fall In Love".
