I love finding new bands – especially bands that demonstrate a passion for keeping tradition alive. Alive, that is, not embalmed.

I’d heard of Turning Ground, but only found the time to listen to them a couple of days ago. This is the first song I heard, and is it ever stunning!

Like Jimmy Martin, Wayne Lewis, and Wes Miller before him, this lead vocalist models his style on the greatest country singer of all time, George Jones.

Interestingly enough, one of Jones’s biggest vocal influences was bluegrass pioneer, Ralph Stanley. Tradition circles back to the source, and this is the soulful result.

This is Turning Ground with, “When A Man Can’t Get A Woman Off His Mind”.
