The Doomed Genius of Scotty Stoneman

Scotty Stoneman. Bluegrass fiddler. Doomed genius.

His sister, Roni, captured him best in her autobiography, Pressing On, but even precious insights by a beloved sister find Scotty Stoneman maddeningly elusive, his unfathomable intensity only briefly glimpsed.

This portrait will tell you about the music, but it seems that no one – not even Scotty Stoneman himself – could have told you about the man.

Despite what people may say about the romance of it all, Scotty Stoneman’s death was senseless and tragic. He spent his final days drinking aftershave on the streets of L.A.

To end up like that, after making … this.

All you can do is shake your head, and hope it never happens while you stand and watch.

This is Scotty Stoneman and The Kentucky Colonels with “Listen To the Mockingbird”.
