This is the quintessential, closing-time, Saturday night lament! You couldn’t find a better troubador for it than Larry Keel, who has a voice like sandpaper on gravel, As you might expect from Keel, the instrumental work is guitar-driven, but the subtle, insistent presence of banjo and mandolin in the mix lets you know this is bluegrass.

The tune is the traditional “Country Blues”. Keel and his band, Natural Bridge, pretty things up considerably with the instrumental that follows. Me, I prefer the first tune by a country mile.
