Two Ways To Play

Having only heard Del McCoury’s version of this old song, I was curious to see how Jim and Jesse interpreted it.

Where McCoury is rueful, seeing the humor through the pain, the McReynolds brothers feel the sting keenly. The picking is just a bit angry, and the poignant harmonies cut like a knife. Oddly enough, I like them both.
