Some time around 1962, a Japanese businessman made a trip to the U.S., and took a pile of bluegrass records home with him. He started sharing that extraordinary music with his circle, and word spread. The Japanese have been in love with bluegrass music ever since.

Now, it’s one thing for a foreign band to nail down the instrumental idioms of music not their own, but quite another to deliver the lyrics succinctly and credibly in a language not their own.

Listen to this amazing performance of “Lord, Build Me a Cabin In Gloryland” by the Sennichimae Bluegrass Band. What a fitting tribute to the positive impact that American culture can have.
