The Downhill Bluegrass Band wrote this one in honor of union organizer, songwriter, and fellow Swede, Joe Hill, who was executed for murder on the basis of evidence that was later disproved.
The lyrics are based on Hill’s last will, which he sent to Ethel Raim, founder of The Pennywhistlers.
